quote of the day: on the bitterness of the obamas

“By her husband's logic, Michelle Obama must be a heavily armed xenophobic religious zealot, because boy is she bitter.”

[Note, the article is not much use.]

context for any who live with osama in a cave

Quote from Senator Obama

“You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.

“And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

government figures: uk method of calculation

It is government, or Prime Minister and ex-Chancellor Gordon Brown the Clown, who rules the fake definitions of the various financial indicators, such as that for inflation. The statisticians merely run the numbers.

Here is a simple analogy of government calculations:

“We need a measure of temperature, but it must look good and put us in a good light.”

“Well minister, do you want it to show a high or low temperature for Britain?”

“Oh, a high one, of course I want people to come to Britain on their hols and spend lots of money here.”

“Alright, minister. How will it do if we measure the temperature at 14.00 each day and call it ‘The British temperature’.”

“Yes, that sounds fine to me. Get to it.”

10 years later....

“People are not coming and spending here any more. AGW has driven up ‘The British temperature’ to an average 45°C. What can I do?”

“Oh, that’s easy, minister. We change the definition time to 18.00 each day and call it the “British Holiday Temperature. Oh, and by the way, I’ll need a thousand more staff and a juicy rise. Is that alright?”

“Certainly old chap. You’re worth every penny. Perhaps your wife would like us to throw in a knighthood.”

barack v. hillary, democrats v. republicans - compare and contrast

Hillary Clinton is offering coherent policies for which she is arguing cogently. That readers or myself may regard those policies as less than long-term sensible is not the point.

I do not want to see Republicans getting a free ride, as they will do with another joke candidate like Barack Obarmy.

There are fundamentalist elements in the Republican Party, just as there are in the Demogocrats (in the latter group to an extreme, almost deranged, extent). Obarma has only one hope - to gain the presidency as a rabble rouser on a wave of mindless emotion.

A Hillary presidency would be essentially sane, even if you may regard it as misguided. An Obarma presidency would be a setback for civilisation.

The United States of America is no ordinary country.

Clinton One did much good for America, even if he was weak on international policy. Bush Two, in my view, will be regarded by history as a great president and a great man.

The tension between the two visions, Republican and Democrat, bring a balance which is productive for all.

The disgusting prurience that is endemic among the Republican Party in the likes of Keyhole Ken [Starr] and Bill O’Reilly is offset by the extremes of political correctness and mental superficiality in the left wing. Neither party are wondrously sane at the edges.

It is only the conflictual tension that improves America and the planet.

All Obarma can offer is “Yes, we can” and much other empty cant.

That Obarmy is much far down the Leftist road is very sad. Leftism is a slippery slope, it is intellectual tripe, it has no serious grasp on reality. His candidacy is doing much harm to America and particularly to ‘blacks’, while he is an intellectual cypher. He is a creature of Wright and the rest of the moonbat shambles.

Obama has very little independence of mind. He is a groupie with a big mouth, not an independent thinker. That is part of what makes him such a political naïf and nuisance. He is hardly to be listed as a responsible adult.

Some may (and indeed do) even regard him as a sweet boy, but that is not a description of presidential material in a difficult world. As said above, his candidacy is doing great harm to ‘blacks’, and I fear that harm will not easily be mended.

In the presidential election campaign, I would prefer a real contest of points of view. Obarma cannot provide that. Hillary can. Obarma only offers vacuous idiocy, an idiocy that appeals to children and ivory tower faux-intellectuals.

As long as America remains essentially sane, Obarma will be washed away in a tidal wave, just as previous foolish candidates proposed by the Demogocrats.

The Republicans voters had the sense to winnow out their own extremist and dopey candidates, despite the whining of the likes of Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity.

The Demogocrat Party appears to be, at present, in hock to fools on the extreme left. For all the babble, the Republican Party is still sane at the roots.

a heavy attack on iran should be carried out this year

I have many times been asked if we should attack Iran. Until now, I have said that I think the time is not yet ripe. My position is now changed.

A long, heavy bombing attack should be in the pipeline to smash the Iranian military capacity during this year.

A strong warning through back channels may be a precursor, but I am not much concerned with that. In reality, plenty of warning has been given in responses to the continuing contempt and foolishness from the nutcases in Tehran.

Clearly, they are daft enough to try to play the fool right down the line. So it is time for a serious ‘message’ not subject to their takeyya and playing the innocent!

“Recent British and American intelligence suggests that Iran has exported Hizbollah's technology to Iraq and Afghanistan, where it has been responsible for the upsurge in roadside bombs. (Most of the 51 American fatalities in Iraq last month were victims of such devices.)

“Last year, British special forces intercepted two lorries crossing from Iran into Afghanistan that contained 50 such bombs and timers; last week a senior US military official said that the Revolutionary Guards' elite Quds Force had recruited Hizbollah experts to train Iraq's Shia militias at camps inside Iran.

“Intelligence estimates suggest as much as 90 per cent of the hardware being used by insurgents in southern Iraq originates from Iran. Iran's escalating involvement in confronting coalition forces has prompted John Bolton, America's former UN ambassador, to call for US air strikes on Iranian camps training and equipping insurgent groups.

“With American troops now fighting alongside British forces based in southern Iraq, the prospect of the coalition becoming involved in direct military confrontation with Iran becomes more likely by the day. The Iranians are terrified the US-led coalition might turn Iraq into a success story, and are doing everything in their power to prevent it. Coalition commanders are convinced the only way to prevent the Iranians from undermining the coalition's hard-won gains is through direct military confrontation.” [Quoted from telegraph.co.uk]

north korea: bush administration cleaning the mess left by demogocrat appeasement

After freeing maybe 100 million from dictatorships and steadily rolling back the dictators Bill Clinton appeased, another step forward:

“North Korea turned over key nuclear weapons documents to a visiting U.S. diplomat Thursday, a senior State Department official said. It was a step toward the Bush administration's goal of a full accounting of the isolated regime's nuclear past.”

Now Barack Obarma wants to go back to Demogocrat business-as-usual.

So let’s summarise Obarma’s brilliant foreign strategy. It amounts to:

  • abandon our friends in Iraq,
  • attack our allies in Pakistan, and
  • appease our enemies in Iran.

socialist labour in a half-blind panic as they scrabble around for a third target for cameron

As I have long stated, removing the socialist coup in the Tory party will make defeating ‘new’ Labour a pushover. That change is now becoming well established.

Naturally that is now the end of socialist Labour.

“The most devastating finding of the poll is that 55 per cent of Labour voters believe that the party would be more likely to win the next general election if Mr Brown resigned "to make way for a younger, fresher, more charismatic alternative." ”

“The number who trust Mr Brown and Alistair Darling most to deal with economic problems has fallen to 30 per cent, down from 43 per cent in mid-March and 61 per cent in early September.” [Quoted from timesonline.co.uk]

Meanwhile ‘new’ Labour will try to plaster over the cracks. Here, Matthew Parris on the ‘new’ Labour ‘message’:

  • wake-up call
  • message from the electorate
  • take it on the chin
  • listen to voters
  • learn lessons
  • heed concerns
  • need for change
  • get back in touch
  • sharpen up the act
  • show contrition
  • find a new narrative
  • feel their pain
  • show humility
  • understand more
  • blitz of initiatives
  • sense of purpose
  • simpler messages
  • sharpen the argument
  • clearer sense of direction
  • relaunch/refocus/rediscover/
  • redefine/repair/refresh/reshuffle/rethink/renew
  • begin fightback
  • still two years left

And what about David Cameron? How is he measuring up?

David Cameron is brighter than Margaret Thatcher, but has a somewhat lesser mess to clean up because of Maggie Thatcher’s earlier work. He will be more than 10 years younger than Maggie was when he enters no. 10.

Cameron is educated more than 30 years later, in an era of ginormous progress.

I would expect him to have a more steady judgement and a greater ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Because of this, he has a more complex and, thereby, much better grasp of the modern world.

He has very great potential to improve Britain.

the setting of energy policy - biofuels: a study in politics as usual

“Soaring food prices and starving children provide a stirring backdrop to Europe's debate on its biofuels targets, but the big businesses of farming, forestry and automotive could have a heavier influence on policy.”

“Densely-forested Scandinavia could then take the lead, providing Europe's greenest transport fuels, with typical carbon savings of around 80 percent.”

clown now stealing more for his clients’ pensions than the payers can afford for their own pensions

“For 11 years, Labour has sucked revenue from the productive part of the economy so as to engorge the unproductive part. Now, it has reached the dregs.

“In his recent book, David Craig has calculated the amount of extra tax raised by this government since 1997: an almost unbelievable £1,229,100,000,000."

Marker at abelard.org

“There is, as those oriental religions would recognise, karma in all this. Brown is chiefly responsible for the shift from the entrepreneurial to the state sector. Private sector workers are now paying less into their own pension funds than they are paying in tax to guarantee the pensions of public sector workers who have already retired: £17 billion a year as against £20 billion.”

‘New’ Labour’s real priorities - tax, tax and tax.

“Tens of thousands of families will have to pay up to £245 extra a year under new road tax rules after a covert government decision to include cars up to seven years old.

“The Treasury admitted to The Times last night that it was quietly abolishing the exemption for older cars from the highest rates of vehicle excise duty. This means that owners of larger cars bought since March 2001 will find that their road tax will rise steeply from next April.

“The increases are being introduced in two stages, with many owners who are now paying £210 a year being charged £300 in 2009 and up to £455 in 2010.” [Quoted from timesonline.co.uk]

Hey, why does anyone believe it was an accident that the Clown increased tax by removing the 10p tax rate?
