Flower Spikes by abelard
Description: September in Kew - flower spikes among the green.
The human eye has difficulty focussing blue, hence the haze phenomenon, which can be corrected by using blue-blocking, yellow sun-glasses. The eye is also less responsive to blue than other colours, therefore intense blues give the colourist problems.
The camera also has difficulties with blues and purples. Colour film picks up infra-red reflections from some blues which we do not see. These reflections, dancing on the edge of our red perception of some blues in nature, give many people a fascination with those blues, which they respond to as metallic.
It is this effect which occupies me in this painting. Price: £2100.00 Size: 120 cm x 86.4 cm Serial Number: 46 this image is © aug/1991 abelard. all rights reserved.
